International Marketing Experience 2009
- Helsinki & Tallinn -

Helsinki
Helsinki is a modern European cultural city whose urban cosmopolitan lifestyle exists in perfect harmony with nature. Surrounded by the sea and its own exotic archipelago, Helsinki offers visitors an endless number of possibilities. Just as Helsinki cannot be described in one word, neither can it be experienced in just one way. Helsinki really does have something for everyone.

Throughout its 450-year history, Helsinki has existed in the crosscurrents of the East and West. The colourful layers of history can be seen everywhere; a walking tour of the city centre or of the magnificent Suomenlinna Maritime Fortress will open your eyes to a fascinating past.
Helsinki is a Western European cultural city that has nevertheless found its own niche between East and West. Internationally Helsinki is known for its unique designs, architecture and high technology. The city is also increasingly mentioned in connection with graphic design, music and youth culture. The majority of Helsinki's cultural establishments and sights are situated within walking distance of the city centre. Art museums, such as the Tennis Palace Art Museum and the Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma, are just a stone's throw from the Senate Square and the best shopping streets. In addition to major shopping centres, Helsinki offers hundreds of tiny and unique boutiques, including original designer shops. If you are into music, you will have to visit the Lifesaver record shop, which specialises in rhythm

Life in Helsinki is defined by starkly contrasting seasonal changes. In the summer, the warmth and permanent daylight invigorate the city. The locals worship the sun and welcome the heat with open arms. In the winter, the cosy and mysterious darkness offers its own blanket of warmth, even in the crisp and snowy outdoors. In town, Helsinki's culture explodes into life with a vast range of events, concerts and exhibitions.

Tallinn
Today, Tallinn is the capital of one of the most rapidly developing economies in the Baltic Sea Region. During the 10 years Tallinn had developed into a very modern and open city with tall glass and steel buildings, illuminated signs of major international companies, large shopping malls, newly renovated airports, ever growing cargo and passenger ports as well as dozens of new manufacturing and warehouse complexes.
The medieval capital has turned into a modern IT-driven business cluster for various trades and industries. Tallinn’s airport, harbours as well as bus and train stations are all located within easy reach of the city centre and Old Town.

Sport plays an important role in Estonian culture. Estonia first competed as a nation at the 1920 , although the was established in 1923. Estonian athletes took part of the until the country was annexed by thein 1940. The was held in the capital city. After regaining independence in 1991, Estonia has participated in all Olympics. Estonia has won most of its medals in athletics, weightlifting, wrestling and cross-country skiin.
The distance between Helsinki and Tallinn is 82 kilometres.
