‘e-Marketing
‘For me, internet is the medium of the future.’ A recent study on internet usage pointed out that seventy percent of the questioned found that internet is becoming more and more important for them. Activities such as online banking and shopping were found to be most popular.
This trend has not been unnoticed by big corporations. Although the economic crisis has hit the complete financial world, corporate budgets on online advertisement has increased from 23.4 to 23.7 percent in 2008. Furthermore, economists expect an increase in online advertisement of 18.6 percent in 2009. E-marketing is more measurable, adequate and innovative in comparison with it’s hard copy counterparts. E-marketing is arise!
It is because of latter stated reasons that e-marketing will be the theme of the International Marketing Experience 2009.
Online information is becoming more and more accessible and personal. When making an online purchase, consumers more often rely on comparison sites and search engine hits. Furthermore, consumers are constantly fed personalized emails with offers based to match their preferences and needs.
To conclude, the lion share of internet marketing is currently through search engine marketing, email marketing and display advertisements. But are there more options? And how could these options be implemented?
The theme e-marketing is searching for opportunities concerning online advertising. For this type of advertising different applications are available, which are described below.
- The first one is search advertising, an application in which search engines are at issue. Questions like ‘how can I become the number one in the list of hits, produced by search engines’ are reserved here.
- The next one is e-mail marketing. This application is customized, offers a well measurable response and is fast and flexible.
- The third application is web advertising. This exist of affiliate marketing (promotion at another websites) and banners at websites. Research shows that the chance that a person buys a product is higher, when he or she sees more often a banner on a website.
- Finally there is an application which becomes, perhaps, much bigger in the future: mobile phone advertising. More often, people use internet applications on their mobile phone. However, nowadays they use it mainly for things like the weather, traffic and news. Different studies shows that one third of the mobile phone users is willing to receive online advertisement on their phone, provided that there will be a recompense. Moreover, this applies to more than 50% of the adolescents between 16 and 24 year.
During the International Marketing Experience 2009 questions like above and a lot of other questions will be answered. There will be looked at the possibilities that the internet offers in relation to internet marketing, and how this can be adapted at best. Besides, the question if there should be a difference in approaching adolescents and older people will be treated.
